MOCCAMASTER KBG SELECT – THE EVERYDAY FAVOURITE

The KBG Select is a great choice for everyday home brewing. It makes up to 1.25 litres of coffee and features a glass jug with a warming plate to keep your coffee at serving temperature.

Moccamaster KBGT 741 Drip Coffee Maker

MOCCAMASTER KBGT – FOR COFFEE THAT STAYS HOT

Prefer to make a full jug and enjoy it over a longer morning? The KBGT brews directly into an insulated thermal jug, keeping your coffee hot without a warming plate.

It's ideal if you don't drink all your coffee straight away or prefer to take the jug to the breakfast table.

Best for: Slower mornings, home offices and anyone who prefers a thermal jug.

MOCCAMASTER CUP-ONE – FRESH COFFEE FOR ONE

If you usually make coffee just for yourself, the Cup-One is worth considering. It brews directly into your cup, so there's no need to make a whole jug.

Compact and straightforward to use, it's a practical option for smaller kitchens or individual coffee drinkers.

Best for: Single coffee drinkers, smaller kitchens and freshly brewed coffee one cup at a time.

MOCCAMASTER CDT GRAND – FOR BIGGER BATCHES

Need to make more coffee at once? The CDT Grand is designed for larger batches, with a 1.8-litre brewing capacity and an insulated serving jug.

It's a good option for busy workplaces, offices and households where several people enjoy filter coffee.

Best for: Offices, larger households and higher-volume coffee brewing.

Frequently Asked Questions about Moccamaster Filter Coffee Machines

Which Moccamaster coffee machine should I buy?

The KBG Select is a great all-round choice for home use, with a glass jug and warming plate. Choose the KBGT if you prefer a thermal jug that keeps coffee hot for longer, or the Cup-One if you usually make coffee for one person. For larger batches, the CDT Grand offers greater capacity.

What is the difference between the Moccamaster KBG Select and KBGT?

The main difference is how they keep coffee hot. The KBG Select uses a glass jug and warming plate, while the KBGT brews into an insulated thermal jug. The KBG Select also has a half-jug setting, making it more flexible when brewing smaller amounts.

Is a Moccamaster worth the money?

If you regularly drink filter coffee, a Moccamaster is a worthwhile investment. The machines are made in the Netherlands, maintain a consistent brewing temperature and are designed with durability and repairability in mind. They're particularly appealing if you want reliable, good-quality coffee without complicated settings.

What coffee is best for a Moccamaster?

reshly roasted coffee with a medium filter grind works best in a Moccamaster. Medium roasts offer a smooth, balanced cup, while lighter roasts can bring out brighter, fruitier flavours.

At Redber, we have a dedicated Filter Coffee Collection featuring coffees ideal for filter brewing. Not sure which to choose? Try our Filter Coffee Taster Pack to discover different flavours and find your favourite.

What grind size should I use for a Moccamaster?

A medium grind (our filter grind), similar in texture to granulated sugar, works well for Moccamaster filter machines. Coffee that's too finely ground can slow the water flow and cause the filter basket to overflow.

How much coffee should I use in a Moccamaster?

A good starting point is around 55–60g of ground coffee per litre of water. For a full 1.25-litre jug, use approximately 69–75g. You can adjust this slightly to suit your taste.

Can you make just two cups in a Moccamaster?

The KBG Select has a half-jug setting designed for brewing smaller batches of approximately 4–6 Moccamaster cups. If you regularly brew just one mug, the Cup-One is the better choice. Remember that Moccamaster cup measurements are smaller than a typical UK mug.

How long does a Moccamaster take to brew coffee?

The KBG Select and KBGT take approximately six minutes to brew a full jug of coffee. The Cup-One can brew a single mug in around four minutes.

What size filter papers does a Moccamaster use?

The KBG Select and KBGT use size 4 cone-shaped flat bottomed filter papers. The Cup-One uses size 1 filter papers. Always check the requirements for your specific model, especially larger commercial machines.

How often should I descale my Moccamaster?

Moccamaster recommends descaling after approximately 100 brews, or more frequently in hard-water areas. Regular descaling helps maintain water flow, brewing temperature and performance. Durgol Universal is recommended by Moccamaster for descaling its machines.

Does a Moccamaster have a built-in coffee grinder?

No, Moccamaster filter coffee machines do not have built-in grinders. You can buy freshly roasted coffee from Redber and select the flter grind option. We'll grind your beans after roasting, ready for your Moccamaster.

Alternatively, if you prefer to grind your beans fresh at home, explore our Filter Coffee Grinders collection to find a suitable grinder for your machine.

Does the Moccamaster switch off automatically?

Yes. The KBG Select's warming plate automatically switches off after 40 minutes. Thermal jug and single-cup models have different automatic shut-off settings.
