Brazil Ipanema Yellow Catuai Coffee Origin and Details
Brazil Ipanema Yellow Catuai coffee is sourced from the historic Fazenda Rio Verde, one of Ipanema's five farms located in the Serra da Mantiqueira Mountains in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This over 100-year-old farm, acquired by Ipanema in 2002, is known for its commitment to quality and sustainability. The farm is a nature sanctuary, with coffee fields covering only 40% of the land, while the rest is dedicated to native forests, waterfalls, and trails. The altitude ranges from 800 to 1,350 meters above sea level, providing ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality Yellow Catuai coffee.
The Yellow Catuai varietal is a dwarf hybrid of Mundo Novo and Caturra, developed in Brazil in 1949. It is known for its refined and clean acidity, making it perfect for growing in high altitudes and windy areas. The coffee is handpicked selectively and processed using the pulped natural method, where the beans are dried with some of the fruit’s mucilage still attached. This method enhances the sweetness and body of the coffee, resulting in a flavourful and aromatic cup.
