The History of Birchall

The origins start with Captain Birchall George Graham, who was posted to India as an officer with the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment where he served admirably for a number of years.
“Birchall planted his first tea bushes in early spring of 1872.”
The present generation of the Graham family continues to trade tea across international markets and the youngest members, Daniel & Tresham, represent the fifth generation. The company is based in London and has extensive interests in East Africa, including trading offices and a 62,000 sq/ft tea factory in Mombasa, Kenya.

East Africa's Finest Tea
Birchall source their blended and single origin black teas exclusively from the finest tea estates across East Africa, from Rwanda through to the Great Rift Valley in Kenya, where the very best teas are to be found.
In this part of the world, tea bushes grow more slowly, in lush volcanic soil and ideal conditions, developing greater flavour before they are individually hand-picked for quality.

Birchall's award-winning speciality and everyday black teas are sourced exclusively from estates across East Africa. All of their tea leaves are only ever hand-picked from tea bushes grown at high-altitude in lush volcanic soil and ideal conditions. The result is a cup of tea that is bright, delicious and bursting with full flavour.
