Grown in the Batak region of Sumatra, Indonesia, at altitudes between 800 and 1,500 metres above sea level, this Grade 1 coffee benefits from fertile volcanic soil and traditional processing methods that create its distinctive depth and character. 

Processed using Giling Basah, also known as wet-hulling, Sumatra Mandheling develops the dark colour, heavy body and earthy complexity that Indonesian coffees are known for. The beans are triple-picked to help ensure consistency and quality.

This was a struggle

I am a dark roast lover who drinks espresso's black.
I couldn't get into this coffee at all. I am no stranger to tobacco, spicy notes (Monsoon is my favourite) but this was a muddled mix of notes for me.

Lighter than my usual Mandheling

Not as syrupy or chocolatey as my usual mandheling but this has meant that I have drunk more of it! Not the biggest coffee drinker (I love my tea more) this has vastly increased my coffee consumption (not difficult!! Usually 1 cup a week on Sunday with croissants). I will be buying it again but for that chocolatey hit on a Sunday I will stick with my usual brand.
