El Salvador Diamante - Dark Roast

I have been using these beans for 18 months now, ordering a 1kg bag every 3 weeks. Having tried lots of other beans I have really taken to the taste of the El Salvador Diamante.
However I will be ordering different ones next time. The reason for this is that sometimes the beans are delivered with an oily appearance rather than a dry look. This has probably happened 3 out of 18 deliveries and quite randomly.
This oily appearance does not affect the taste which is the good news, however it does make dialling in difficult, it causes a higher number of shots to be wasted as sometimes the shot time can vary between 15 and 40 seconds. I have never experienced this with any dry looking bean.
The grind time is longer and it causes a larger volume of grind to be produced filling the portafilter to a higher level, which means I have to adjust my levelling tool to accommodate this. The puck is very much more prone to channelling through my bottomless portafilter no matter how careful I am with levelling and tamping.
I have given 3 stars to this bean due only to the oily appearance, the beans taste great and Redber is a top company to deal with.

Good body and crema. One of my favourite all round roasts.

Like all the Redber coffee that I buy this coffee is outstanding. It is not bitter but has a good creme and nutty notes. This is a great dark roast to enjoy with a coffee syrup any time during the day.

Came to Redber on my search for the best coffee roaster for a simple espresso. Even though Redber isn’t really London, I really loved El Salvador Diamante. Already ordered more of it

One small comment, other suppliers offer free delivery on orders over £30, could this be a possibility for future orders

Thought we would give this a go, as we order pretty much the same dark roast each time, it’s very chocolaty, very nice in espresso, grinds very well, but would I get it again mmm not in preference to Colombia Huila, but if we fancy a change, I would reorder,

We are regular customers of Redber and usually enjoy the coffee.

Unfortunately the last bag of diamante - dark blend tasted bitter and lacked body. This is very different to how it usually is for us. The other bag we ordered (Huila) was delicious as expected so we can rule out and equipment issue

My favourite Redber coffee.

Little bit of acidity, lingering intensity with an interesting citrus almost elderflower note. Didn’t kick out the most flavour out of the espresso range though hence the medium rating.

I have tested lots of different beans and found that I prefer this to the others. The taste is not overpowering and has a pleasant long lasting after taste. However, taste is very personal and others may disagree.

I tried a 125g bag of beans, but did not like the flavor, which may be an acquired taste for others. I prefer Java and Indian beans.
