The ROK grinder is surprisingly good. The first advantage I noticed, in replacing the electric grinder with it, is the noise. It is not only matter of noise levels, but of noise quality, the ROK grinder produces a pleasant and gentle scratchy noise. In the morning I love spend the perhaps 45 seconds required to grinding manually my espresso (approx 15 grams) enjoying the view from the window of the kitchen. The long leverage makes this operation substantially effortless. It is quality time, compared with the unpleasant 5-10 seconds of the screaming noise of the electric grinder. The quality of the product is in my opinion (I am not a super expert though) comparable with the best electric grinders. I am using a position 2 or 3 for espresso, I could go finer, while with the electric one I was at the finest setting and it was not fine enough. My espresso as notably improved. The ground seems to be uniform. Some of it get stuck in the cup, some powder goes around, sometime a couple of beans are jumping out, keeping a little brush around sort this out. I recommend it. Not that good. I found the grind size adjustment not that easy to understand or accomplish. There ought to be some visual sign and not have to rely on the sound of clicks esp. for the hard of hearing. The machine itself is beautiful and well made. I use a creme fraiche plastic lid with a strip cut out to stop the beans popping out. The service was also excellent. The bonus pack of coffee(to practise with) was also welcome
