Richard Sapper's Alessi Espresso Maker 1-cup (7cl) (9090/1) is a milestone in Alessi's history, amongst its first household items produced since the 1930s. Honored with the Compasso d'Oro award in 1979, it is also the first object from Alessi to be featured in the Permanent Design Collection at the New York MOMA. Moreover, it is the most renowned of Alessi's coffee makers, due to its dual ability to be used in the kitchen or at the table.

Richard Sapper was a German-born designer, who combined poetry and humour with mathematical precision. He lived and worked in Italy g in Italy since the 50’s, and became an integral part of the history of Italian design. He won the Compasso d'Oro ten times.
