Old Brown Java, is also known as Old Brown coffee, or Old Government Java. The coffee is grown on the old colonial estates on the east end of Java Island in Indonesia. Old Brown Java was traditionally used as ballast on sailing ships travelling to Europe in the 16th and 17th Centuries, where the sea water gave the coffee a distinct flavour.
Every time tend to order something different but Old Java is always there. Great on its own as well as adding character to my personal blends. Unfortunately price raised recently but most of them did.
My all time favourite.
For many years; decades even, this was the only type of coffee I thought deserved the name. But out of curiosity I have been mixing it recently with other coffees especially S.American ones and enjoying the results. I believe OBJ is the basis for some of the Redber blends - so you are teaching me something as well as providing lovely coffee. The search for utter perfection continues.
Easy to order and quick delivery. Old Brown Java has very nice flavour, somewhat bold but not bitter if it is made strong and black, which I prefer. I will try African coffee next time, just to try it but this Java is so good. I strongly recommend it.
Good coffee loved it
