BRAZIL CERRADO PEABERRY (NATURAL) - Medium Roast Coffee
Our latest offering from the DBarbosa farm is a natural fermented peaberry. As you already know, DBarbosa produces speciality coffee on High Cerrado, Minas Gerais in the east of Brazil. The Dbarbosa farm has been family run for four generations and great care is placed in both the quality of the coffee and the sustainability of the production. Danilo, the head of the family and the farm has recently added 186 hectares of land to a local nature reserve so that local wildlife can flourish.
This offering is a very special natural fermented peaberry with a sweet cup and pronounced flavours of raspberry and apricot, a boozey acidity and syrupy lingering body.

This particular coffee is very special for two reasons. Firstly, it is a natural fermented coffee which means the cherry (fruit in which the coffee bean is grown) is picked when it is very ripe and left to ferment in the sun until completely dry. Then it is hulled off so only the seed or coffee bean remains. This natural fermentation develops complex sweet, fruity flavours and a winey acidity. It often produces a more syrupy body than washed coffees.
Secondly, it is a peaberry which means that unlike normal coffee cherries which contain two seeds or beans, one seed or bean has developed inside the cherry, allowing it to grow into a round shape, like a pea.
Third reason, it is delicious.
Very pleasant tasting slight sweetness
