How to choose your coffee beans?

With over 30 single origin coffee beans and our very own blends, it can be overwhelming when choosing a coffee for the first time. One thing that we can guarantee: there is something for everyone! All our coffee is 100% Arabica.

Start Your Coffee Journey by picking Your Roast

Dark Roast

Dark roasted coffee beans typically have strong, bold flavour with a slight smokiness. The body of the coffee is often smooth and syrupy, with a low acidity.

Medium-dark Roast

Medium-dark roast offers fuller body and more intense flavour than a medium roast. You'll be able to taste the subtle nuances of the coffee beans, mild acidity, and a hint of sweetness.

Medium Roast

Medium roast showcases the true flavour of single origin beans. It offers light body and higher acidity often accompanied by subtle citrus notes.

Single Origin Coffee or Blend?

Another factor to consider when selecting your coffee beans is to choose coffee from as Single Origin or a Blend.

Single Origin Coffee

Single origin coffee is sources from a single geographic location. These are often higher quality and offer a unique flavour profile that is reflective of the specific region they come from.

Coffee Blends

A coffee blend combines two or more coffees to create a delicious, unique flavour that you can't find in a single-origin coffee. They're popular with cafes and coffee shops because their flavour remains consistent throughout the year.

Green Coffee Beans

Are you interested in trying home coffee roasting? Roasting coffee can be an enjoyable and rewarding hobby. You can use a home coffee roaster or even a simple pan on the stove. We have an extensive selection of unroasted specialty coffee beans to choose from.

What is the best way to store coffee beans?

When you buy freshly roasted coffee beans, you need to make sure that you store them correctly so that they retain their fresh flavour. You should keep them in an airtight container since too much exposure over time to moisture, air, and oxygen can severely affect their quality and may make your coffee taste stale.

If you buy coffee beans that come in a resealable bag like ours, then you can store them here.

You should put your coffee beans in a cool, dark place in your home, like a cupboard. The further away from heat sources such as ovens, the better, as there is less risk of your beans getting damaged and they'll have longer-lasting freshness.

What is Filter Grind for Coffee?

By Graham Jones on Feb 29, 2024

Filter grind refers to the consistency of coffee grounds optimized for use in filter brewing methods. This encompasses a broad spectrum of devices from the classic drip coffee maker to pour-overs and the Aeropress. The grind size for these methods is typically medium, resembling coarse sand. This size ensures that hot water can properly extract the coffee's flavours and aromas without passing through too quickly, as it might with a finer grind, or too slowly, as with a coarser grind.
