Many of the Indonesian islands were formed by volcanoes. They are therefore mountainous and have rich soil that is ideal for growing coffee. Some of the world's famous coffees are grown on the islands of the Malay Archipelago: Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi. Approximately 15% of all the coffee grown in Indonesia is Arabica.
Sumatra Mandheling coffee is grown on volcanic slopes of Mount Leuser near port Padang in the Black region (west-central Sumatra).
A very nice coffee but the contents of the bag seems to disappear very quickly. I'm wondering whether there is a hole in the bottom?!
Definitely my favourite Coffee blend of all time and Redber as always have good delivery and service.
Nicely balanced and very clean for Indonesia. Advertised acidity is there but in the background. Great fruit flavours to balance the typical earthy backdrop. Roasted medium, medium style grind and medium amount of coffee. V60 pour over method. Was slightly nervous of the leap from Central and South American styles to Indonesia, but the risk was well rewarded.
Such a great coffee. One of my favourites
